Fox mug rug for Scrappy Mug Rug Swap

Again I joined Scrappy Mug Rug Swap. This time the mug rug is more colourful :) and (*tadaam*) with the fox...
The project was looking differently. I planned to paper piece the little fox and maybe some clouds on the sky... but then decided that it would be extremely hard to paper piece such a small thing. So instead, I pieced the background and appliqued the fox (I konw it doesn't look perfect, but it also wasn't easy to traditionally applique the fox). Hope my partner will like it. Otherwise I will have to make something different:

Mug rug obsession and #2 award in the contest!

I was so supprised that I won #2 place in Madame Samm mug rug contest... I was sure none of my mug rugs will win anything, as there were so many wonderfull works gathered in the flickr group.

My hexie-bee mug rug won me a jelly roll of Wee Woodland by Keiki (photo from Madame Samm's blog):

Now I can show you two other mug rugs which I made for the contest:

'Warm up your life'

You can put you mug on the sun... and your tea or coffe will warm your morning and the whole day :)

'Tea o'clock'

Before making this one, I was googling for some idea/picture of tea party or some funny quote about tea. Suddenly I saw 'three o'clock' written in some sentence and 'tea o'clock' jumped in my head itself. As 5 o'clock is the tea time, I placed little tea cup on 5 dial :)

[and my favourite fabric last days... I heart those brambles]

And typically for my creations, both mug rugs were made using raw edge applique technique ;)

Mug rug with wolf - quilting and painting on fabric

Starting another week with a new crafting idea :)

Yesterday I spent my day on creating a quilted mug rug with wolf's head painted on it (somehow I'm much into wolfs... ^.^).

I used beautiful set of fabrics from Sarasa collection from Makower UK (I bought them some time ago and couldn't decide what to make out of them... but their time has finally come :D ). Oh, how I love those Sarasa colours and flowers \o/

For painting I used black Marabu Textil paint. Up to now I was painting only on paper. It was completely new experience and much fun. After painting you need only to iron the painted fabric for 3 minutes and it's done. So easy :)

The mug rug has a size similar to the others which I was making - about 17 x 25 cm. Here is the front.

back:

and with something tasty :)

For the next time I will try to prepare some tute (I would do it more often... I just forget about the camera when I start to sew something).

Have a nice Monday :)

Scrappy mug rugs

I was working hard for the whole weekend :) Finishing some Christmas gifts for my family and for my forum-christmas-swap-partner. But of course I had to find some time for myself. And I did. I made two mug rugs. A little bit different from all the things I was doing up to now. See for yourself:

All the corners are nicely finished - I think this took me the most time :) Besides choosing the colours...

I had real fun while 'drawing' with the sewing machine (yes, it's how it suppose to look...) :

For sure i will do more 'drawing' soon. And here is the back side of both mug rugs:

I also did a small cherry stone pillow for my mum... Nothing special, but I think she will like it.

I will be away for the next week, so if anybody wants to contact me, please write me an email.

Best wishes

Acorn mug rug - Autumn time

Well, this is my answer on the challange, which you can find here: Szufladowe wyzwanie # 9
Autumn is the topic... and as I am a huge fan of cup coasters and mug rugs, which other choice you think I had?

I quilted some oak leaves:

a wooden button (just to make it more cute ^.^)

Christmas set - cup coasters and a mug rug

So, i finally finished the cup coasters which I started when I prepared the tutorial. I added a mug rug to them which I started a while ago. Happened, that they are made from the same set of fabrics. I just gave a little Christmas look to the mug rug, as Christmas is comming :)
Hope you like it:

Good night to you all :)
