It started today over Amy's Creative Side and will last till 20th of May. Last year I didn't participate in it. I simply didn't have anything to share.
I thought that during this edition of Bloggers' Quilt Festival I will manage to show at least the top of my Amethyst Ring Quilt, but I'm still waiting for the fabric and don't think that it will be possible to finish it during this week.
What I would share with you today is my Dragonfly Quilt which I made few weeks ago for Portland Pairs challange with my blogger friend Julianna. The challange was to sew a quilt based on the photo. We chose THIS dragonfly.
It was really something. I never did a pictorial quilt in this size (23"x15"). It took me almost a week to choose the right fabric and next few days to arrange and cut them in a way that it would fit my design. Quilting - or I should say thread painting - was more difficult than I expected. But the end effect was something I dreamed of achieving. Take a look yourself:
This quilt is special for me. There is lots of my heart, time and all my sewing abilities in it. I think it's not so bad for a sewing newbie ;) (I sew for about a year now). I gave the quilt to my parents to hang in their bedroom. My grandfather was a tailor and my father always apreciates handmade things done by me. However, this time he couldn't believe that I did this quilt myself :D:D:D
*happy Bloggers' Quilt Festival*
