Micro Mod quilt top finished

I finished sewing the Micro Mod quilt top. The pattern was quite easy and sewing went really quickly (compared with other quilts I was making):

Wierzch narzuty skonczony. Poszlo szybko, latwo i przyjemnie (relatywnie, oczywiscie):

I have no name for it yet, so if any of you have some idea, I'd be very grateful (you know you always have the best ideas!). My mum, when she saw the design, said that it looks like a bicycle chain links:

Nazwy dla wzoru jeszcze nie mam (ciezko wymyslec jakas ciekawa nazwe w obcym jezyku), wiec  licze na pomoc odwiedzajacych i ich pomysly ;) Moja mama jak zobaczyla wzor to powiedziala, ze wyglada jak lancuch od roweru, wiec pewnie gdzies w tym kierunku z nazwa bym chciala pojsc:

Now I have to think how to quilt it. That's always the most difficult part for me, as I'm limited to my home sewing machine. Not sure what would fit the best to the quilt top...

Jeszcze pikowanie zostalo. Najgorsza dla mnie czesc szycia quiltu... Jak patrze na pikowanie na long arm'ach, to coraz bardziej przeszkadza mi pikowanie na malej maszynie, bo jednak bardzo ogranicza. Przede wszystkim naprezenie materialu w long arm'ie jest idealne i mozna sie bawic ze wzorami nie patrzac na to, czy cos sie gdzies nie pomarszczy czy nie sciagnie...

Micro Mod WIP update

I'm still working on the quilt top from Micro Mod fabrics from Cloud9. Today I'm almost finished, but the weather got so bad that I couldn't make any good photos, so I'll show you what I managed to acomplish on Friday and Saturday. On Friday I was assembling all the blocks - first sewing in circles in the center of each block and then sewing curved pieces in the corners. Here, a stack of blocks with sewn in circles and pinned corner pieces, ready to be sewn:

Nadal szyje gore quiltu z materialow Micro Mod od Cloud9. Juz prawie udalo mi sie dzisiaj skonczyc ale zdjec nie robilam, bo pogoda za oknem paskudna... szaro, zimno i ponuro. Robilam za to zdjecia w piatek i sobote. W piatek zszywalam elementy blokow razem. Najpierw wszywalam kolka w srodku blokow, potem zaokraglone narozniki. Tu juz bloki z wszytymi kolkami czekaja na wykonczenie:

I think the more I sew curves the easier it gets. I get more feeling with the fabric (I know, it's not perfect yet, but I think it goes in a good direction):

Wydaje mi sie, ze im wiecej szyje po luku, tym latwiej mi to idzie. Na poczatku mialam problemy z rozciaganiem sie materialu podszac szycie i prasowania ale z czasem jest duzo lepiej (no, nie idealnie, czasem jakas zmarszczka czy szczypka na materiale sie zrobi, ale po prasowaniu jest praktycznie niewidoczna):

Last step was ironing. As always, spray starch is very helpful to keep all the curved seams flat (I also use it when sewing PP blocks):

Po zakonczeniu zszywania elementow przyszedl czas na prasowanie. Tu jak zawsze przy lukach (i przy blokach PP tez) niezawodny okazuje sie krochmal w sprayu:

 

Yestarday I had almost all blocks nicely ironed. I finished ironing today and started to sew the blocks together. At the moment I have all the rows assembled and tomorrow I plan to finish the top:

Wczoraj praktycznie skonczylam prasowanie blokow. Dokonczylam dzisiaj i zaczela je zszywac w rzedy. Jutro powinnam skonczyc gore narzuty:

 

Some of the long awaited packages came last week. Some purse frames (I really enjoy making frame purses; it's very relaxing):

Kilka wyczekiwanych paczek przyszlo w ostatnim tygodniu. Bigle do portmonetek (dla mnie bardzo relaksujace zajecie, szycie portmonetek z biglem):

And some of my absolutely favourite fabrics (which are almost not possible to get anymore) from Nature Walk and Cut out and keep collections from Cloud9. I found those in an online shop in Czech Republic and Jolana @ vjahodovce ordered them for me and then sent me the fabrics. I'm so happy I got those! Thank you Jolana!

I moje ukochane i dlugo wyszukiwane materialy z kolekcji Nature Walk i Cut out and keep collections od Cloud9. Materialy juz praktycznie niedostepne (tam, gdzie je do tej pory znajdowalam kosztowaly mala fortune) znalazlam przez przypadek w sklepie z materialami w Czechach. Jolana @ vjahodovce pomogla mi z zamowieniem i przeslala materialy do mnie. Ucieszylam sie jak dziecko, gdy pan listonosz przyniosl paczuszke :)

Micro Mod from Cloud9 Fabrics (WIP)

Last week I received a set of beautiful fabrics from Cloud9 Fabrics. It's MicroMod collection by Rob Bancroft. The colors of fabrics are darker and I'd say the whole collection is very manly, which I find really cool, as there are not so many fabric lines from which you can make a really nice quilt for a guy. I already started to cut those beauties and prepare blocks for my next quilt:

W poprzednim tygodniu doszly do mnie materialy od Cloud9 z kolekcji MicroMod zaprojektowanej przez Rob'a Bancroft'a. Kolory materialow sa dosc ciemne, a cala kolekcja wydaje mi sie dosc 'meska', co mysle jest zaleta, bo niewiele jest kolekcji materialow patchworkowych, z ktorych mozna by bylo uszyc ciekawy quilt dla faceta. Oczywiscie juz zaczelam niektore szmatki ciac i przygotowywac bloki do nowego quiltu:

I'm off to continue working and cutting fabrics (it takes some time as I have custom templates with curves and I have to first draw the outlines on the fabric and then cut with scissors; I somehow don't like to use rotary cutter for cutting curves, I think I'm a bit old fashioned ;) ).

Udaje sie ciac dalej... zajmnie mi to troche czasu bo to bedzie kolejny quilt z kolkami. Czeka mnie dalsze odrysowywanie elementow na materiale i wycinanie nozyczkami (jakos nie moge sie przelamac do ciecia nozem krazkowym po luku... ).

Palette and brushes. Pastiche bee ~ block for January.

Next mont, next Pastiche bee block. This time 'Old School Art & Design' was the topic. I chose to make palette and brushes block. It took me 2 days to plan, draw a block in EQ7 and sew it, but now it's packed and ready to be shipped. 

One brush tip is slightly missplaced, but I think it can be forgiven ;) 

For the palette I used Quilter's linen in taupe (had some scraps left after sewing Pathfinder quilt), BasicGrey's Grunge from Little Black Dress collection (cream?) for the background, solids for paint colors and scraps for brushes. 

It was really fun block to sew! 

Kolejny miesiac i kolejny blok do Pastiche bee. Tym razem tematem byly akcesoria pracowni plastycznej (nazwijmy to tak). Planowanie, rysowanie bloku w EQ7 i szycie zajely mi 2 dni. Dzis skonczylam, a blok jest juz spakowany i gotowy do podrozy do Kanady. Koncowka jednego z pedzelkow jest przesunieta ale mysle, ze zostanie mi to wybaczone ;)

Do uszycia palety wybralam Quilter's linen w kolorze taupe (mialam jakies resztki po szyciu Pathfinder'a), tlo to jedna z tkanin BasicGrey's Grunge z kolekcji Little Black Dress, farby to solidy a pedzelki ze skrawkow. 

Musze przyznac, ze blok szylo sie bardzo przyjemnie.

'Vintage Scissors' PP pattern

The block is finished. Next time, please remind me, that when I want to make such tiny PP block, I have to keep it easy... all those tiny pieces... and those tiny papers to remove... but nonetheless, I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out (P.S. I always wanted to have such scissors, I think they are adorable!)!

The pattern is originally designed to be 12"x12", but this block is just 7"x7":

Blok skonczony. Nastepnym razem, gdy bede planowala uszyc tak maly blok PP, musze pamietac, ze powinien byc prosty... maciupkie elementy, mikroskopijne okruszki materialow i te malenkie papierki do odrywania z tylu... Ale blok bardzo mi sie podoba :) (P.S. Zawsze chcialam miec takie nozyczki):

 

Guessing game yesterday was really fun! Thank you all for taking part in it! We had camera lenses, rotary cutter, needles and... ring from LOTR! Now that's something! The first person to guess correctly what's the theme of the block was CitricSugar:

Wczorajsza zgadywanke wygrala CitricSugar, ktora jako pierwsza odgadla, ze tematem bloku sa nozyczki. Ale pozostale odpowiedzi tez byly bardzo ciekawe - byly igly, obiektyw aparatu, noz krazkowy a nawet pierscien z Wladcy Pierscieni ;)

Tiny PP WIP

Yesterday when I saw the Sewing Portfolio made by Kerry I decided that I have to make one for myself. As I'm not really good at precise sewing of little squares together, I had to figure out something else for the front. Well, it had to be small, so I thought a PP pattern would be great! Of course sewing related. To make things more difficult (I could use one of the fabulous patterns which were presented during Sew Out Loud QAL), I immediately started to draft a new pattern. Originally, I designed the block 12"x12", but for the Sewing Portfolio, I resized the pattern to get 7"x7" block. Here's a little sneak peak. I will show you the finished block tomorrow, but in the meantime, maybe some tiny contest (fitting perfectly to the tiny PP, LOL)? The first person who will correctly guess (and write it in the comment below the post), what is the theme of the PP block, will get the pdf pattern from me :) 

Gdy wczoraj natknelam sie na post u Kerry z jej Sewing Portfolio od razu zdecydowalam, ze tez musze sobie takie uszyc :) Niestety, precyzyjne zszywanie mikroskopijnych kwadratow nie jest dla mnie wiec musialam pomyslec o czyms innym. Musi to byc cos malego, a uzycie jednego tylko materialu to nie to... Zdecydowalam, ze bedzie to blok PP zwiazany z szyciem. Moglam uzyc ktoregos z blokow zaprojektowanych podczas Sew Out Loud QAL ale wiadomo, ze jak baba nie ma klopotu, to kupuje sobie prosie ;) Usiadlam do komputera i zaczelam rysowac nowy wzor. Zaprojektowalam blok 12"x12" ale do Sewing Portfolio musialam go zmniejszyc do 7"x7". Ponizej poczatek PP. A skoro mamy malutki blok, to bedzie i malutki konkurs. Co jest tematem bloku? Kto pierwszy zgadnie (i napisze odpowiedz w komentarzu pod postem), ten lepszy i dostanie ode mnie plik pdf ze wzorem :) Jutro pokaze skonczony blok:

Quilter's World ~ February 2013

I know that I'm not writing so frequently lately (I'm a bit busy at home and drawing some new block and quilt designs), but be sure that soon things will change :D There is something big comming up! Stay tuned for more details.

My two projects are in February's issue of Quilter's World (btw. I love the cover colour)! How exciting is that!
