Portland Pairs with Julianna - Dragonfly art quilt

Some time ago, Julianna from Jednoiglec Project Town asked me if I would like to take part in something you can call a personal challange. She showed me Portland Pairs group on flickr. The basic idea is to sew a quilt inspired by the photo. It's a great way to see, how two people can differently see one photo and can interpret it in completely different ways. After some time spent on searching for a suitable photo, we chose THIS dragonfly.

Today, finally, we can show you the results of our work.

Julianna made her dragonfly in a modern, fresh look:

You can read more about it on her BLOG.

My dragonfly is more traditional. I was fighting quite a long time with quilting it. It's about 23x15 inches and makes a nice wall hanging. I didn't really have purple/violet fabric then, that's why I used dark blue.

Lots of free motion quilting...

What do you think about it?
