BLOG TITLE

This time I honestly forgot that it was Tuesday yesterday. I realised that in the evening when I was going to sleep... Well, here we go again with Tutorial Tuesday (on Wednesday...).
Today few words about thread painting. Or better to say about machine embroidery. Up to now I didn't know what was the difference between those two.
Tym razem mi sie szczerze zapomnialo... to, ze wczoraj byl wtorek, uswiadomilam sobie dopiero wczoraj wieczorem jak sie kladlam do lozka. Kolejny raz przepraszam ;) Dzis bedzie o 'malowaniu nicia' w doslownym tlumaczeniu i o hafcie maszynowym. W gruncie rzeczy te techniki sa bardzo podobne. Wymagaja uzycia stopki do pikowania, opuszczenia transportera i zmniejszenia dlugosci sciegu. 'Malowanie nicia' to tworzenie kolorowych, cieniowanych  aplikacji i obrazow poslugujac sie jedynie prostym sciegiem. Tak jak w linku 2. ktory podalam ponizej. Haftowanie maszynowe to (wg. mnie) wszystko to, co 'malowaniem' ciezko nazwac. Swoje prace (oprocz wazki) zakwalifikowalabym do haftu maszynowego.

Thread Painting is an embroidery technique that can be used by both hand and machine embroiderers. In both methods, the technique relies on long, smooth stitches and intricate shading to produce the stunning results.

Machine Embroidery is also called free-motion machine embroidery and is stitched with the thread dogs dropped. This offers you complete control of the fabric, and it does not make any difference on how you set the machine for stitch length and width.
It can be stitched using a specialist embroidery machine, or on a normal sewing machine.
You will need to insert the free motion foot and loosen the upper tension to about 2.5. Fill the bobbin with fine thread and use a slightly heavier (about 40 weight) thread.
With thread painting, you draw your design onto the fabric directly and stitch it. You may want to have a separate copy of the pattern next to you that you have coloured in, so that you can follow the shadings you want to use [source].

It's hard to tell much more without showing a video and as I don't have any I will provide you with few useful links:
Ciezko pokazac cos bez filmow. Sama zadnego nie mam ale jest tu kilka wartych obejrzenia linkow:

1. a series of videos by Terry White (it starts with the one with the colorful bug but you can easily find many other videos on the side bar),
2. video by Stitchtalk (thread painting),

For my last project - dandelion pillow - I used embroidery hoop for sewing the pattern. I didn't know that it's commonly used for such purpose... seems like people just tend to have similar ideas:
W moim ostatnim projekcie po raz pierwszy uzylam tamborka przy haftowaniu maszynowym. Do tej pory staralam sie naciagac material recznie podczas szycia, ale nie zawsze sie to udawalo. Nie wiedzialam, ze uzycie tamborka jest tak powszechne... widac rozni ludzie miewaja te same pomysly...

the back:

I used the same technique in my other projects. In Dragonfly quilt:

Did you thread paint/machine embroidered anything before? If so, I would love to see your projects. Just post a link to it in the comment :)

Pozdrawiam Banty
